Iteke Wijbenga is a passionate viola player, active in chamber music, orchestra’s and as a soloist.

She played with musicians like Barnabás Kelemen, Alena Baeva, Severin von Eckhardstein, Pieter Wispelwey,  Rainer Schmidt, Rick Stotijn, Benjamin Schmid and Quirine Viersen. Iteke is regularly invited as a guest player to many international chamber music festivals like Grachtenfestival (NL), Old Ox (Sweden),  Aurora Festival (NL), Harmos Festival (Portugal) and International Chamber Music Festival Schiermonnikoog (NL).

Since 2016 she is a parttime member of the Residentie Orchestra in The Hague (NL). She also plays as a guest in other (chamber) orchestra’s in the Netherlands and Germany like the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, the Cologne Chamber Orchestra and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.

Iteke obtained her Master’s Degree with highest remarks and ‘cum laude’ at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with professor Sven Arne Tepl. She started her musical education on violin as a student of Ilona Sie Dhian Ho. Iteke received masterclasses of a.o. Tabea Zimmermann, Nobuko Imai, Tatjana Masurenko, Thomas Riebl and Anner Bylsma.

Iteke plays on a modern viola made by Jürgen Manthey (Leipzig).
